Asthma clinic
The Janeway Children’s Health and Rehabilitation Centre offers an asthma clinic. The asthma clinic is a multidisciplinary program with the primary goal of controlling asthma and preventing future risk through education and management.
What we do
The clinic helps families to recognize and understand the signs and symptoms of asthma, to identify and reduce asthma triggers, and learn proper techniques for taking asthma medications.
During your visit, an asthma action plan will be developed to meet your child’s specific needs.
When attending your appointment at the asthma clinic, please bring any medications and/or inhaler devices that your child may be using at home.
If your child is six (6) years of age or older, they will likely have a pulmonary function test during the visit. A pulmonary function test is a breathing test that measures how well your child’s lungs are working. Parents should avoid, if possible, using salbutamol (Ventolin) at least four (4) hours before the test.
